Change-up of the church in Laodicea
Revelations 3:14~22
1. The change-up: A change can start, when we get to know ourselves. (vv. 15~17)
1) God already know us.
2) We need to admit our true self.
2. The change-up: We need to repent and be earnest. (vv. 18~19)
1) We should repent.
- Gold refined in the fire: It is unchanging faith.
These have come so that your faith – of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined
by fire – may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is
revealed. (1 Peter 1:7)
- White clothes: It is Christian’s pure life.
Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride
has made herself ready. Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear. (Fine linen stands for the
righteous acts of the saints.) (Revelations 19:7~8)
- Salve: It should open our spiritual eyes.
This is what we speak, not in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual works.
(1Cor 2:13)
- Being earnest: We should maintain our passion for prayer and God’s words.
2) If we rely on the Lord’s love, we can be restored.
3. The change-up: Obeying the Holy Spirit is a blessing. (vv. 20~21)
1) Obeying brings us the blessing of joy.
2) Obeying brings us the blessing of honor.
4. The change-up: He who has an ear should hear for sure what the Spirit says to the churches. (v. 22)
Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba,
Father.” (Galatians 4:6)
1) The Holy Spirit is our guide.
2) The Holy Spirit speaks to us and guides us as our helper.
3) The Holy Spirit speaks to us as our comforter.
