<여는 말씀/Introduction>
끝을 생각하고 살아야 후회 없는 삶을 준비하며 살 수 있습니다. 어떤 삶이 될 때 후회 없는 삶이 될까요?
성경은 하나님께 인정받는 삶이 될 때 후회 없는 삶이 된다고 가르쳐줍니다(시 1:6). 하나님께 인정받는 후회
없는 삶을 살았던 한 사람의 인생을 통하여 우리의 삶을 한 번 돌아봅시다. 하나님은 적은 무리를 불러서,
그리고 때로는 한 사람을 불러서 그 시대의 어둠을 밝히는 도구로 사용하십니다(겔 22:30). 세례 요한은
어두운 시대에 찾아올 여명을 준비하는 사람으로 부름 받고, 그 부르심을 충성되게 감당했기에 “여자가
낳은 자 가운데 가장 큰 자”로 인정받는 영광을 누렸습니다(마 11:11; cf. 눅 1:76-77). 하나님이 찾으시는
소수로 살아가는 삶을 살려면 어떻게 살아야 할까요?
In order to live a life without regrets, we must think about how it would come to an end. What kind of life leaves
no regret? According to the Bible’s teaching, the life that God approves leaves no regret (Psalm 1:6). Let us reflect
on our lives as we examine the life of a man who lived without regrets and received God’s approval. God calls a
few people and sometimes just one person to shine the light into the darkness (Ezekiel 22:30). John the Baptist
was called to prepare the dawning of a new day and fulfilled his calling faithfully. So he received God’s approval,
being honored as ‘the greatest among those born of women’ (Matthew 11:11; cf. Luke 1:76-77). How can we live
as one of the few good servants that God is looking for?
1. 하나님의 큰 그림 속에서 자신의 역할을 알아야 합니다.
Understand your role within God’s big picture.

⑴ 세례 요한에게 주어진 역할은 길 닦는 인생을 사는 것이었습니다(요 3:30).
John the Baptist’s role was a way-maker, preparing the way of the Lord (John 3:30).
⑵ 길 닦는 인생은 자기의 영광이 아니라 주님의 영광을 위해 존재합니다(벧전 4:10-11).
The life of a way-maker exists not for his own glory but for the Lord’s (1 Peter 4:10-11).
⑶ 자기를 나타내지 않는 길 닦는 자로 살아가려면?
How can you live as a way-maker, not seeking our own glory?
① 길을 열어주는 삶을 살아야 합니다(요 12:24; 왕하 20:19).
Live your life to make way for others (John 12:24; 2 Kings 20:19).
② 가진 것을 다음 세대를 위해 사용해야 합니다(대상 22:2-5; 전 6:2).
Use your resources for the next generation (1 Chronicles 22:2-5; Ecclesiastes 6:2).
2. 주어진 역할에 만족할 수 있어야 합니다(요 3:29).
Be content with the part God assigned to you (John 3:29).
⑴ 세례 요한은 신랑이 아니라 신랑의 친구의 역할에 만족했습니다.
John the Baptist was content not to be the bridegroom but to be his friend.
⑵ 길 닦는 자의 특징은 조연의 역할을 기쁨으로 감당하는 것입니다.
A way-maker delights to serve in the supporting role.
3. 잊지 말아야 할 중요한 교훈들이 있습니다.
Don’t forget the important lessons.
⑴ 성경적인 성공의 기준을 바로 이해해야 합니다(요 1:14; 전 1:11).
Understand the biblical standard for success (John 1:14; Ecclesiastes 1:11).
⑵ 은혜에 붙들려 살아야 합니다(눅 1:78).
Live captivated by the grace of God (Luke 1:78).
⑶ 결코 헛되지 않다는 확신이 필요합니다(눅 1:77-79).
Have confidence that your life will never be in vain (Luke 1:77-79).
